{"id":211,"date":"2014-03-03T16:04:03","date_gmt":"2014-03-03T21:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/msc\/?page_id=211"},"modified":"2015-12-01T15:04:45","modified_gmt":"2015-12-01T20:04:45","slug":"food-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/msc\/policies\/food-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"catering\" href=\"https:\/\/marshalldining.catertrax.com\/index.asp?intOrderID=&amp;intCustomerID=\" target=\"_blank\">Sodexo<\/a> is the exclusive caterer for Marshall University.\u00a0 Off campus caterers are not permitted. \u00a0Student organizations may use their Shoestring Menu <a title=\"shoestring menu\" href=\"https:\/\/marshalldining.catertrax.com\/shopdisplayproducts.asp?subCategoryID=28&amp;cat=Snack+Attack&amp;categoryID=24&amp;intOrderID=&amp;intCustomerID=\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All room reservations must be made through the Facilities Scheduling Office before confirming arrangements for food and\/or beverages with Food Service.<\/p>\n<p>Requests to bring in donated food or beverage items in conjunction with an event must be submitted in writing to the Facilities Scheduling Manager at least ten (10) working days prior to the event. \u00a0All requests will be forwarded to the Senior Vice President of Operations for approval. \u00a0No food or beverage items can be brought into the Memorial Student Center without written approval.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Cookouts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to comply\u00a0with Cabell-Huntington Health Department food safety policy, a grill cook must be hired in advance through Sodexo for all cookouts. \u00a0All proper food handling requirements will be handled by Sodexo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bake Sales<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Per policy of State of WV Department of Health and Human Resources (from Environmental Health Procedures Manual, Memorandum\u00a0 F-61), the sponsor of any bake sale is required to register with the local health department for each sale.<\/p>\n<p>Food items for bake sale must be limited to foods that do\u00a0 not normally support the\u00a0 rapid growth of microorganisms, such as cakes, cookies, fruit pies, candies, yeast breads, and nut and fruit breads. \u00a0The sale of potentially hazardous food is prohibited (for example &#8211; cream-filled products; cream, custard, or meringue pies).<\/p>\n<p>Foods are to be individually wrapped in the portions that will be offered for sale to the public.\u00a0 Slicing, wrapping, or exposing foods at sale or distribution site is prohibited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food Donations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Requests to bring in donated food or beverage items in conjunction with an event must be submitted in writing on letterhead from the donating party to the Facilities Scheduling Manager at least ten (10) working days prior to the event.\u00a0\u00a0The letter from the company donating food items must specify exactly what product and amount is being donated. \u00a0All requests will be forwarded to the Senior Vice President of Operations for approval.<\/p>\n<p>All procedures, in accordance with Cabell-Huntington Health Department regulations, must be followed. \u00a0For more information, you may read &#8220;<a title=\"proper food handling\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cabellhealth.org\/foodhandler.swf\" target=\"_blank\">Proper Food Handling<\/a>&#8220;, part of the food handler training course, <a title=\"food handling\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cabellhealth.org\/foodhandler.swf\" target=\"_blank\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sodexo is the exclusive caterer for Marshall University.\u00a0 Off campus caterers are not permitted. \u00a0Student organizations may use their Shoestring Menu here.
