Howie, was part of MU PAWS for two years while his handler, Casey Watson, studied in Marshall&#8217;s Clinical Psychology (PsyD) program.\u00a0 During this time, he became a supportive and calming presence in the department&#8217;s Psychology Clinic, the Center for Healthier Aging Initiatives in Appalachia, and local nursing homes.\u00a0 That is why the Department of Psychology gave him the title of Doctor.\u00a0 You can read more about this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/psych\/2024\/04\/19\/casey-watson-and-dr-howard-j-howie-watson-a-dynamic-duo-in-therapy\/\">here.<\/a>\u00a0 This outstanding work was all in addition to MU PAWS.\u00a0 As part of our program, he spent regular Paw-ffice Hours in the Wellness Center, the Twin Towers Residence Halls, and events across campus.\u00a0 A weekly fixture in the Towers, he brought joy to students with his good nature and often cheeky personality.\u00a0 They rewarded him with limitless scratches, snuggles, and high fives.<\/p>\n<p>Howie is now a therapy dog at the Ball State University Counseling Center where Casey is completing a yearlong clinical internship before graduating with her own doctoral degree.\u00a0 We miss both Howie and Casey but are excited for their bright futures helping others.<\/p>\n<p>Handler: Casey Watson<\/p>\n<h2>In Memoriam<\/h2>\n<p>Since MU PAWS launched in 2019, therapy dogs have brought boundless love to the Marshall campus community.\u00a0 They comforted us during hard days and brought joy during happy times.\u00a0 Although they are gone now, their pawprints will last forever.\u00a0 Please join us in remembering the special souls that have since crossed the rainbow bridge.<\/p>\n<h3>Lily (2014-2024)<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-203\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Lily-Spring-2024-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Lily-Spring-2024-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Lily-Spring-2024-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Lily-Spring-2024-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 281px) 100vw, 281px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lily was adopted as a puppy and immediately became obsessed with her human.\u00a0 As an original dog in the MU PAWS program, she was the longtime \u201cBestest Girl\u201d in Housing and Residence Life where her handler works.\u00a0 Lily loved visiting the residence halls and meeting students during her campus walks.\u00a0 Both in person and through Instagram, she had a loyal following. In any situation, she had an innate ability to find the person who needed comfort the most.\u00a0 Nothing made Lily happier than chest rubs and treats.\u00a0 She was given lots of both and deserved all of them.<\/p>\n<p>Handler: Mistie Bibbee<\/p>\n<h3>Juner (2011-2024)<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-208\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Juner-Edited-1-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Juner-Edited-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Juner-Edited-1-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Juner-Edited-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/mupaws\/files\/2025\/09\/Juner-Edited-1.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Juner was adopted from the shelter at six months old. From day one, he was sweet, gentle, and loyal.\u00a0 An original MU PAWS dog, he especially loved attention from students, both in the Student Support Services office where his handler works and the many places on campus he visited.\u00a0 Juner\u2019s affectionate nature earned him the title of \u201cBellyrub King.\u201d\u00a0 He was also a leisure king.\u00a0 Instead of playing fetch or chasing toys, he preferred being around humans, lying on his porch watching kids and dogs play, and cuddling on the couch at home.<\/p>\n<p>Handler: Bonnie Bailey<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are grateful for the all the dogs who have participated in the MU PAWS Therapy Dog Program.\u00a0 Below are therapy dogs who have retired, moved on to other opportunities, or have passed passed away.
