Welcome to the Marshall University Research Corporation.<\/h2>\n

Marshall has the ingredients that matter: talented faculty, staff, and students; a clear public mission; strong regional partners; and a research corporation designed to help the university move from ideas to impact with discipline and speed.<\/p>\n

Research, scholarship, and creative activity are not separate from Marshall\u2019s mission. They deepen student learning, attract and retain talent, strengthen communities, build partnerships, create economic opportunity, and generate solutions that improve lives. Marshall\u2019s 2037 plan sets an ambitious goal of $150 million in research, grants, and contracts, alongside increased startup activity and greater economic impact. Reaching those goals will require the imagination and commitment of the entire university and a research infrastructure capable of supporting excellent work reliably.<\/p>\n

MURC is one of Marshall\u2019s principal partners in turning that ambition into execution. We support the full lifecycle of research and creative activity: identifying opportunities, developing proposals, negotiating agreements, managing awards, ensuring fiscal stewardship and research integrity, protecting and commercializing intellectual property, and building productive external partnerships.<\/p>\n

Our standard is service with standards: responsive and practical support, clear communication, sound judgment, rigorous compliance, and continuous improvement. We should make the work easier to navigate without weakening the safeguards that protect Marshall, its researchers, and its partners.<\/p>\n

As I begin, I will listen for reality before prescribing solutions. I will enter with working assumptions, not declarations, and work with colleagues across Marshall to understand what is strong, where friction exists, and which investments or changes will create the greatest leverage. Lasting progress comes from systems that make excellent work repeatable, but those systems must respect the expertise, relationships, and creativity of the people doing the work.<\/p>\n

My goal is to help Marshall build a research enterprise that is disciplined, trusted, externally connected, student-centered, and visibly useful to West Virginia and the region. Whether you are a first-time principal investigator, an experienced researcher, a student, a staff member, a community partner, or a sponsor, I hope you will experience MURC as a candid, capable, and committed partner.<\/p>\n
