{"id":22560,"date":"2021-07-21T17:27:11","date_gmt":"2021-07-21T21:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=22560"},"modified":"2021-07-21T17:27:51","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T21:27:51","slug":"presidential-search-committee-schedules-second-series-of-listening-sessions-to-solicit-input","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2021\/07\/presidential-search-committee-schedules-second-series-of-listening-sessions-to-solicit-input\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidential search committee schedules second series of listening sessions to solicit input"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Marshall University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/presidential-search\/search-committee\/\">presidential search committee<\/a> is planning a second series of on-campus listening sessions for students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community members.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the sessions, which are set for Aug. 3-4 on the Huntington and South Charleston campuses, is to solicit input about challenges the university\u2019s next president will face in the next 5-10 years and to identify skills and experiences a successful candidate will need to overcome those challenges. Two days of listening sessions were held last week on the Huntington campus.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall\u2019s presidential search began in April, when President Jerome A. Gilbert announced he would not seek an extension of his contract that ends July 15, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/presidential-search\/listening-sessions\/\">schedule of listening sessions<\/a> is available on the university\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/presidential-search\">presidential search website<\/a> and is being updated as sessions are scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to attending a listening session, anyone wishing to provide input can <a href=\"mailto:presidential-search@marshall.edu\">contact the Search Committee<\/a> by e-mail, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/presidential-search\/feedback-2\/\">provide feedback<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/presidential-search\/nominate-a-candidate\/\">nominate a candidate<\/a> through the website<strong>. <\/strong>The search committee will consider input throughout all stages of the search process.<\/p>\n<p>The search committee is being assisted by the executive search firm <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Facademicsearch.org%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cginny.painter%40marshall.edu%7C8dcf099ec99a4d4190ca08d941683486%7C239ab2783bba4c78b41d8508a541e025%7C0%7C0%7C637612738098216771%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&amp;sdata=xPT%2FCKTc9HDfd7pKC8PSudDRd6%2FSgfzpOdqFkxNuDF4%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Academic Search<\/a>.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marshall University\u2019s presidential search committee is planning a second series of on-campus listening sessions for students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community members.
