{"id":22782,"date":"2021-09-28T13:51:41","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:51:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=22782"},"modified":"2021-09-28T13:51:41","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:51:41","slug":"marshall-alderson-broaddus-reach-physical-therapy-study-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2021\/09\/marshall-alderson-broaddus-reach-physical-therapy-study-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall, Alderson Broaddus reach physical therapy study agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Marshall University School of Physical Therapy has partnered with Alderson Broaddus University to annually provide two qualified students at Alderson Broaddus the opportunity to enter the doctoral physical therapy program at Marshall.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement allows AB graduates of any major to qualify if they\u2019ve met the prerequisite course requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re enthusiastic about this partnership with Alderson Broaddus and provide students from other parts of the state with this opportunity in our physical therapy program,\u201d said Dr. Jerome Gilbert, president of Marshall University. \u201cMarshall is blessed with so many assets, including our school of physical therapy, and we are pleased to be able to create a seamless pathway to AB students to come to Marshall for their doctoral work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alderson Broaddus University President Dr. James \u201cTim\u201d Barry thanked Marshall for its commitment to collaboration in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we\u2019ve learned any lesson over the years in this state, it\u2019s that we need each other,\u201d Barry said. \u201cThis is a wonderful opportunity for two institutions to come together and address the issues of health care that are so prevalent in our state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Andrea J. Bucklew is the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Alderson Broaddus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlderson Broaddus University and Marshall both share a strong commitment to student success,\u201d Bucklew said. \u201cWe are so pleased to join in this partnership, which provides an additional pathway for both universities to provide exceptional academic opportunities to our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first cohort of Alderson Broaddus students may apply for the Marshall program this fall to begin the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the summer of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Marshall University have gone on to work in hospitals, outpatient facilities, in rehabilitation clinics and with athletics teams.
