The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to miss the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Earth Day due to COVID-19 concerns, so I would like for this year\u2019s event to make up for the time lost,\u201d said Amy Parsons-White, sustainability manager at Marshall University.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for Earth Week 2022 is <em>Invest in the Planet<\/em>. Events throughout the week will include talks, demonstrations and teach-ins; however, the main activities will take place on Wednesday, April 20, on the Memorial Student Center Plaza and Buskirk Field from 11 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m., rain or shine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe to truly invest in the planet, we need to invest not only in the earth itself, but also in her people,\u201d said Parsons-White. \u201cA healthy, sustainable planet must include social equity and social justice; accessible food; and clean water, soil and air. I hope to have a diverse group of vendors and activities through the week to touch on all aspects of sustainability and a healthy planet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who may have questions or is interested in participating in the week\u2019s festivities is invited to contact Parsons-White by e-mailing <a href=\"mailto:parson133@marshall.edu\">parson133@marshall.edu<\/a>.
