{"id":23715,"date":"2022-04-01T16:55:36","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T20:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=23715"},"modified":"2022-04-13T16:57:41","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T20:57:41","slug":"marshall-school-of-pharmacy-recognizes-students-during-spring-awards-pinning-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2022\/04\/marshall-school-of-pharmacy-recognizes-students-during-spring-awards-pinning-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall School of Pharmacy recognizes students during spring awards, pinning ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/pharmacy\/\">Marshall University School of Pharmacy<\/a> recognized first through third year students at an awards and pinning ceremony Friday, April 1 in the Don Morris Room of the Memorial Student Center on Marshall&#8217;s Huntington campus.\u00a0 The ceremony was also available via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/livestream\/livestream\/school-of-pharmacy-awards-and-pinning-ceremony\/\">livestream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was so nice to hold this annual event in-person again and see smiles on students\u2019 faces,\u201d said Terri Moran, M.S., assistant dean of student affairs at the School of Pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speakers Daniel Collins III, Pharm.D., pharmacist-in-charge at Hurricane Family Pharmacy, and Sarah Dunaway, Pharm.D., BCPS, clinical pharmacy manager at Marshall Health, encouraged the students who were sitting right where they were not too many years ago.\u00a0 Collins, a 2019 alumnus, highlighted the range of pharmacy career paths available upon graduation.\u00a0 Dunaway, a 2016 alumna, shared how she discovered her love of clinical pharmacy through her student rotations at the VA hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the class of 2023 were presented with pins, which symbolize the end of the didactic portion of the curriculum and serve as a symbol of accomplishment as students embark on their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The following <strong>student awards<\/strong> were also presented:<\/p>\n<p><strong>First-year student awards:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Service Award: Elijah Duty<\/li>\n<li>Professionalism Award: Ryan Wooten<\/li>\n<li>Leadership Award: Briana Kilgallin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Second-year student awards:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Service Award: Tiffany Childers<\/li>\n<li>Professionalism Award: Kaleb Thompson<\/li>\n<li>Leadership Award: Jasmine Maynard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Third-year student awards:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Service Award: Rachele Subik<\/li>\n<li>Professionalism Award: Matthew Harless<\/li>\n<li>Leadership Award: Marleigh Ross<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Department of Pharmacy Practice, Administration &amp; Research voted Student of the Year: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First-year student: Jonathan Lilly<\/li>\n<li>Second-year student: Chelsea Fields<\/li>\n<li>Third-year student: Kailey Spainhower<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Department of Pharmaceutical Science voted Student of the Year: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First-year student: David Shore<\/li>\n<li>Second-year student: Angelina Tetteh<\/li>\n<li>Third-year student: Caroline Putnam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Spring 2022 scholarships<\/strong> were also announced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Andrews Scholarship \u2013 Beau Barley<\/li>\n<li>Deans\u2019 Scholarship \u2013 Alexandra Brown, Rebekah Preston, Ryan Wooten<\/li>\n<li>Diversity Scholarship \u2013 Bethany Mullins, David Pina, Genesis Sanchez-Ramirez<\/li>\n<li>Fruth Scholarship \u2013 Abigail Branham, Jordan Doyle, Safiyyah Mitchell<\/li>\n<li>Leadership Scholarship \u2013Chelsea Fields, Jakob Henderson, Lyndsey Riffe, Tanner Sweeney, Cheyenne Weakley<\/li>\n<li>Marshall University School of Pharmacy Rural Health Scholarship \u2013 Shawn Belville, Simeon Cullens, Matthew Harless, Jillian Holgate, Hannah Rinker, Tanner Sweeney<\/li>\n<li>Marshall University School of Pharmacy Scholarship \u2013 Alexandra Brown, Jordan Doyle, Katherine Duty, Dellani Fix, Sherwin Miller, Alison Shufflebarger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, preceptors who facilitate real-world training experiences, were recognized for outstanding contributions to student education.
