Morrow Library at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 20.<\/p>\n<p>Several speakers including Nyoka Baker Chapman, LWVWV Board of Directors and Brandon Dennison, Coalfield Development, among others, will deliver brief remarks.<\/p>\n<p>Chapman says the contents of the time capsule contain contributions from multiple organizations, research on alternative energy technologies, articles that document current events that are shaping West Virginia\u2019s climate history, correspondence and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe West Virginia Climate Time Capsule also carries prayers, hopes and wishes to our neighbors in time, that we are working now on all levels to ensure that they will inherit a sustainable future,\u201d Chapman said. \u201cCurbing climate change is arguably the greatest challenge we face in the coming decades.\u00a0 We must solve empirical scientific and ethical problems, against all odds, during the first half of this century to reach IPCC goals by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Montserrat Miller, executive director of the Drinko Academy, said both she and Lori Thompson, the university\u2019s archivist, have assisted the league in their endeavor to find an appropriate home for the climate time capsule.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that plays a vital role in the education of our citizenry.\u00a0 The Drinko Academy, in seeking to advance civic literacy, is committed to assisting the league in its grassroots community work,\u201d Miller said.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s our pleasure to help the league deposit the West Virginia Climate Time Capsule in the Special Collections Department of the James E.
