\u00a0<\/strong>Healthy Connections<\/a>, an initiative of Marshall Health\u2019s addiction medicine services<\/a>, and the West Virginia Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) Coalition are hosting \u201cThe Kids Aren\u2019t Alright: A Call to Action Fall Conference\u201d from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Harless Auditorium at the Marshall University Medical Center in Huntington. This free, one-day conference for parents, community members and professionals also has a virtual participation option.<\/p>\n

\u201cMultiple generations have been negatively impacted by substance use and trauma,\u201d said Jennifer Mills Price, Psy.D., director of Healthy Connections. \u201cOur annual fall conference offers workshops to connect community members with evidence-based interventions to support children and families.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conference speakers include Trish Luna, the Nashville-based author of Timbi Talks<\/a>, a children\u2019s book about coping with parental substance use; Carol Smith, Ph.D., counseling professor at Marshall University and vice president of the WV ACES Coalition; and Todd Davies, Ph.D. associate director of research for the division of addiction sciences at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.<\/p>\n

Registration for in-person or virtual conference participation is available at https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/cc\/the-kids-arent-alright-a-call-to-action-832699<\/a>.\u00a0 In-person attendees must wear face masks while inside the Marshall University Medical Center.<\/p>\n
