{"id":24618,"date":"2022-10-18T17:30:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T21:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=24618"},"modified":"2022-10-20T16:42:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T20:42:49","slug":"hlc-quality-initiative-slideshow-and-panel-discussion-to-take-place-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2022\/10\/hlc-quality-initiative-slideshow-and-panel-discussion-to-take-place-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"HLC Quality Initiative slideshow and panel discussion to take place tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>As part of its Higher Learning Commission\u2019s Quality Initiative, Marshall University will present a slide show and panel discussion Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Visual Arts Center\u2019s Carroll Gallery in Huntington.<\/p>\n<p>The topic of the slideshow and panel discussion is \u201cFrom Restrictive Covenants to Redlining: An Interdisciplinary Art and Social Sciences Investigation of Housing Practices in 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century Working-Class Huntington, West Virginia, and Dayton, Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Featured panelists will include Dr. Cicero M. Fain III, a visiting diversity scholar and assistant provost for inclusive excellence at Marshall; Dr. Jacqueline Housel, professor of geography at Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio; and Sarah McDermott, assistant professor of printmaking at Marshall.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation is an extension of Fain\u2019s inaugural lecture in August on his book, <em>Black Huntington: An Appalachian Story,<\/em> and is part of the quality initiative\u2019s overall first-year theme, <em>Complexities of Identity<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Media and the public are welcome and invited to attend.
