{"id":24676,"date":"2022-10-31T10:35:41","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T14:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=24676"},"modified":"2022-10-31T10:35:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T14:35:41","slug":"marshall-libraries-seeking-art-with-theme-optimism-in-appalachia-submissions-for-2023-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2022\/10\/marshall-libraries-seeking-art-with-theme-optimism-in-appalachia-submissions-for-2023-exhibit\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall Libraries seeking art with theme \u2018Optimism in Appalachia\u2019 submissions for 2023 exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Marshall University Libraries is issuing a call for entries for its 2023 art exhibit: \u201cOptimism in Appalachia: Reclaiming Hope through Artwork, Crafts and Poetry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreative expression is an outlet that can encourage, reveal, and buoy optimism for the future,\u201d said Sabrina Thomas, head of research and instruction services for Marshall University Libraries. \u201cThe goal of this exhibition is to highlight creative works that reveal, illuminate and engage audiences to a sense of happiness and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Submissions of visual art, crafts or poetry are welcome from artists throughout the community and the region, as well as Marshall University students and employees. Works can be dropped off at Drinko Library Dec. 8 and 9. Prospectus entry forms are available at Drinko Library on Marshall\u2019s campus and in the Visual Arts Center, at 927 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Ave. in downtown Huntington.
