Edwards School of Medicine has launched a short-term training program for internationally trained dentists who wish to increase their knowledge through didactics and observation of patient care.<\/p>\n<p>The short-term program housed within the Department of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provides an opportunity for international dental graduates to increase their knowledge about postgraduate training in both clinical and didactic settings that teaches the basic principles, practice procedures and protocols of a general dental practice in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy observing and learning various methods and materials, participants can become more knowledgeable about expectations and clinical and didactic rigors of a general practice residency and thus become more competitive when applying for dental residency programs in the U.S.,\u201d said Raj K. Khanna, D.M.D., M.D., professor and chair of dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery and director of the preceptorship program. \u201cOur faculty are familiar with international dental graduates and the rigors and challenges they face in order to practice in the U.S., especially since we accept international dental graduates into our residency program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Program participants engage in didactic courses, observations and presentations in general dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics and prosthodontics.
