{"id":25318,"date":"2023-04-18T14:21:55","date_gmt":"2023-04-18T18:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=25318"},"modified":"2023-04-19T14:23:07","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T18:23:07","slug":"new-drinko-fellow-named-at-marshall-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2023\/04\/new-drinko-fellow-named-at-marshall-university\/","title":{"rendered":"New Drinko Fellow named at Marshall University"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Dr. Luke Eric Lassiter (pictured), a professor of humanities and anthropology and director of the graduate humanities program at Marshall University, has been named the 28<sup>th<\/sup> Distinguished John Deaver Drinko Academy Fellow.<\/p>\n<p>The award is one of the university\u2019s highest recognitions for faculty and includes a stipend, re-assigned time from teaching, and other financial and clerical support for two academic years to undertake research, special projects, or other scholarly pursuits.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of Lassiter\u2019s appointment was made by the academy\u2019s executive director, Dr. Montserrat Miller, during the academy\u2019s annual dinner Saturday evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is truly an honor to welcome Dr. Luke Eric Lassiter to the ranks of Marshall University\u2019s Distinguished Drinko Fellows,\u201d Miller said.\u00a0 \u201cIn addition to being an exceptional faculty member, with incredible mastery of experiential learning and community engagement, Dr. Lassiter is a prolific scholar with a national and international consulting profile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lassiter has been with Marshall University since 2005.
