{"id":25342,"date":"2023-04-21T14:13:30","date_gmt":"2023-04-21T18:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=25342"},"modified":"2023-04-21T14:14:34","modified_gmt":"2023-04-21T18:14:34","slug":"psy-d-program-places-all-pre-doctoral-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2023\/04\/psy-d-program-places-all-pre-doctoral-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Psy.D. program places all pre-doctoral students"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Marshall University has placed 100% of its pre-doctoral students in nationwide internships.<\/p>\n<p>The students are required to work full-time for a year providing mental health services at sites across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the final training experience for our students before they graduate and it is similar to a physician doing residency,\u201d said Dr. Keith Beard, director of the Psy.D. program at Marshall. \u201cThese students have already done practica in our campus clinic, in a community placement and in an integrated primary care setting. Now they will be representing Marshall across the country as they complete this internship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Placement in pre-doctoral internship slots is a competitive process. There were almost 4,000 people all over the country applying for pre-doctoral internships this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that we had 100% of our students match to an internship site speaks to our training program and the quality of our students,\u201d Beard said. \u201cIt is an accomplishment that is impressive and one that Marshall can be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Psy.D. program accepted its first class in 2002 and was granted accreditation by the American Psychological Association in 2006.
