The grants were presented for any experiential learning \u2014 including internships, clinicals, research or field experience \u2014 to students who met requirements and submitted competitive applications this spring. They were awarded a total of $5,900.<\/p>\n<p>Students receiving grants include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tayma Al-Astal<\/strong>, a political science major, who will intern with the Kentucky Institute of International Studies.\u00a0 \u201cAs a political science major, it greatly benefits me to be a well-rounded global citizen who can take in different cultures and perspectives,\u201d Al-Astal said. \u201cThe KIIS study abroad program will help me achieve that through its various activities that are centered around cultural immersion.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Isabella Schrader<\/strong>, who is majoring in entrepreneurship and sustainability management and technology, will intern with the Clorox Company. \u201cSome of my responsibilities will be to engage customers and business owners, create innovative solutions, drive growth, and use analytics,\u201d Schrader said. \u201cWith my current majors, entrepreneurship and sustainability management and technology, my ultimate career goal is to create my own sustainability-oriented startup, and this internship will help me accomplish that goal.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brady Doyle<\/strong>, a finance major, who will intern with PricewaterhouseCoopers. \u201cI will be working on an audit team of one of the \u2018Big 4\u2019 accounting firms, and the No. 1 accounting firm by revenue from audit,\u201d Doyle said. \u201cThis experience will teach me what it is like to work for some of the largest companies in the world, and what it takes to have a successful career at a top public accounting firm.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sam LeGrow<\/strong>, a finance major, who will intern with McKinley Carter Wealth Services to gain experience with financial planning and advising.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The #HerdHired Career Experience Grant is made possible with the generosity of the Office of Career Education employer partners: Caliber, U.S. Army, Service Wire Co., Mountain Care Network, Baker Tilly, Nucor, Liberty, WVU Medicine, CleanHarbors and Trilogy.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about Marshall\u2019s Office of Career Education, its services and events, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/careereducation\">www.marshall.edu\/careereducation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four Marshall University students have been awarded internship grants from Marshall\u2019s Office of Career Education.
