{"id":25616,"date":"2023-07-12T17:23:05","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T21:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=25616"},"modified":"2023-07-13T09:34:40","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T13:34:40","slug":"marshall-athletic-training-student-professionals-present-work-receive-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2023\/07\/marshall-athletic-training-student-professionals-present-work-receive-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall athletic training student, professionals present work, receive honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Marshall University School of Kinesiology was well represented at the recent National Athletic Trainers\u2019 Association (NATA) annual convention, June 21-24 in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day conference offers students and professionals from the the athletic training field the opportunity to provide groundbreaking research, network with fellow professionals and explore what\u2019s next in the field.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/files\/heather-williamson-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25627 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/files\/heather-williamson-261x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/files\/heather-williamson-261x300.jpg 261w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/files\/heather-williamson-890x1024.jpg 890w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Student Heather Williamson took part in the convention\u2019s poster presentation session. She presented her work, \u201cTear of the Anterior Inferior Tibiofibular Ligament Resulting in a TightRope Surgery and Achilles Tendon Tendinopathy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was honored to be selected to present at NATA,\u201d Williamson said. \u201cIt was such an enriching experience as I was able to engage with certified athletic trainers and athletic training students from around the country that all share a love for this awesome profession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The School of Kinesiology was also represented by Athletic Training Clinical Coordinator Jenni Johnson and Biomechanics Program Director Dr. Suzanne Konz, ATC. Johnson presented work done with Blake Lacy titled \u201cLeft Ankle Fracture and Syndesmosis Disruption.\u201d Johnson said the opportunity to network and be around colleagues is invaluable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI consider it an honor to be able to share interesting case studies with colleagues from around the world,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cNATA has developed this platform for athletic trainers to be able to collaborate and share information that is useful in everyday practice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Konz presented \u201cAvoiding Borderline Patient Care Practices to Stay Successful and Ethical.\u201d Konz is the outgoing chair of the Committee on Professional Ethics for NATA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to present and discuss the reporting process, violation statistics and the minor things that many clinicians do that unintentionally create ethics violations has been extremely beneficial,\u201d Konz said.<\/p>\n<p>The National Athletic Trainers\u2019 Association is a professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the profession.
