{"id":26468,"date":"2024-04-08T10:19:02","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T14:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=26468"},"modified":"2024-04-08T12:32:06","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T16:32:06","slug":"marshall-university-sustainability-department-hosts-earth-day-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2024\/04\/marshall-university-sustainability-department-hosts-earth-day-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall University Sustainability Department Hosts Earth Day Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Marshall University Sustainability Department will host an Earth Day Fair, an event dedicated to promoting environmental consciousness, fostering community engagement, and celebrating planet Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is invited to join the Marshall community from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.\u00a0 Wednesday, April 10, at the Memorial Student Center Plaza and Buskirk Field for a day filled with educational workshops and other activities, and opportunities to make connections.<\/p>\n<p>The following are a few of the opportunities on campus.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Forty student and advocacy groups will set up booths to share their passion for sustainability. Those who stop by can engage in conversations, learn about eco-friendly initiatives and discover ways to make a difference.<\/li>\n<li>Groups will host interactive workshops\u00a0covering topics such as recycling, energy conservation and sustainable living.<\/li>\n<li>Organizations will have giveaways and raffles. Students and members of the public can\u00a0grab some eco-conscious swag and enter raffles for a chance to win sustainable goodies.<\/li>\n<li>An EV car show and ride-along opportunity\u00a0will be part of the event. Participants\u00a0can experience the future of\u00a0transportation by checking out electric vehicles up close and even taking\u00a0a ride.<\/li>\n<li>A wildlife rehab exhibit will offer a chance to learn\u00a0about local wildlife conservation efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All Earth Week activities are free and open to the public. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to join in celebrating a shared commitment to a greener, healthier world.<\/p>\n<p>The Marshall University Sustainability Department is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices on campus and beyond. Through education, outreach and collaboration, the department strives to create a more resilient and environmentally conscious community.<\/p>\n<p>The Earth Day Fair is a part of a week-long Earth Week Celebration.
