Edwards Performing Arts Center on the Huntington campus.<\/p>\n<p>Three people were given the Distinguished Service Awards.\u00a0 Two qualify for Distinguished Service Awards, individuals must have at least 20 years of service at Marshall University, a record of distinguished service to the university and\/or college and a record of distinguished teaching as evidenced by peer, administrative and\/or student evaluations.\u00a0 The Distinguished Service Award winners will receive $1,000.\u00a0 They are:<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Keith Beard, professor of psychology, College of Liberal Arts<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Wendell Dobbs, professor of music, College of Arts &amp; Media<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kelli Williams, professor of dietetics, College of Health Professions<\/p>\n<p>Also recognized at the meeting were the following individuals who were honored with six separate awards. They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Charles E. Hedrick Outstanding Faculty Award: Dr. Laura Michele Diener, professor of History, College of Liberal Arts;<\/li>\n<li>Marshall and Shirley Reynolds Outstanding Teacher Award: Dr. Laura McCunn-Jordan, professor of Chemistry, College of Science;<\/li>\n<li>Pickens-Queen Teacher Award: Dr. Andrew Morelock, assistant professor of political science; Dr. Leslie-Dawn Quick, assistant professor of criminal justice, criminology and forensics science; and Dr. Julie Snyder-Yuly, assistant professor of communication studies;<\/li>\n<li>Council of Chairs Award for Excellence in Teaching: Mr. Matthew Smith, assistant professor of art and design, College of Arts &amp; Media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three faculty members were honored with the Distinguished Artists and Scholars Award.\u00a0 To be eligible for this award, faculty members must either be tenured or hold tenure-track appointments.\u00a0 The purpose of the award is to recognize distinction in the fields of artistic and scholarly activity on the part of the Marshall faculty.\u00a0 The senior recipients receive $2,000 each and the junior recipient receives $1,000.<\/p>\n<p>The senior recipient for Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education &amp; Business is Sarah McDermott, an associate professor in the School of Art and Design.\u00a0 Also recognized as the Senior Recipient for Science &amp; Technology was Dr. Rosalynn Quinones and associate professor in the department of Chemistry.\u00a0 The Marshall University Distinguished Arts &amp; Scholars Award Junior Recipient in all fields was Dr. Rozzbeh (Ross) Salary an assistant professor in the Weisberg Department of Mechanical &amp; Industrial Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Yvonne Skoretz and Robert Deal were recognized with the John and Frances Rucker Graduate Adviser of the Year award, which acknowledges the contributions of Marshall\u2019s outstanding graduate advisors.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Meghan Hancock, an assistant professor in the Department of English was selected for the Hedrick Faculty Teaching Fellowship Award.<\/p>\n<p>The following 21 retiring faculty members , representing 453 years of service, were also recognized.\u00a0 They are:<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Phillip Carter | Social Work \u2014 45 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Elsa Mangiarua | Biomedical Sciences \u201437 years<\/p>\n<p>Edward (Mike) Murphy | Theatre \u201436 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Elizabeth Reed Smith | Music \u2014 35 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Robert Rubenstein | Counseling \u201434 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ariyadasa Aluthge | Mathematics \u201433 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Robert Morgan | Chemistry \u201427 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. David Hermon | Counseling \u201426 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Norman Cottrill | Pediatrics \u201425 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Nega Debla | Elementary and Secondary Education \u201422 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Marty Laubach | Sociology \u201420 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Menashi Cohenford | Chemistry\u201419 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. John Parker, Jr. | Family &amp; Community Health \u201419 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Joseph Shapiro | School of Medicine\u201412 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jeffrey Boggess | Psychology \u201412 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Debra Greene | Nursing \u201412 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ruthann Armeson | Undergraduate Teacher Education \u201410 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Charles Yarbrough | Dermatology \u2014 9 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Davide Mauro | Computer Science and Electrical Engineering \u20147 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lisa Nord | Pharmacy \u20147 years<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gayle Brazeau | Pharmacy \u20146 years<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">The university also recognized four individuals in memoriam including:\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">Dr. Wesley Shanholtzer | Mathematics &amp; Physics \u2014 37 years<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">Dr. Doug Henson | School of Medicine \u2014 25 years<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">Dr. Ralph Oberste-Vorth | Mathematics &amp; Physics \u2014 9 years<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">Dr. Beverly Boggs | Assistant Vice President of Enrollment\/Financial Aid \u2014 4 years<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marshall President Brad D.
