Marshall Orthopaedics, a member of Marshall Health Network, is now the official sports medicine provider for the Charleston Dirty Birds baseball team.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We have a very unique need when it comes to our season and our athletes, and we knew Marshall Health would be able to excel with everything our organization could ever ask for. Roughly one month into our season, it has already been a dream on the field, in the trainer\u2019s room and phenomenal communication,\u201d said Andy Shea, owner and CEO of the Charleston Dirty Birds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Under the direction of Marshall Health Orthopaedic Surgeon Chad D. Lavender, M.D., and supported on the field by certified athletic trainer Andrew Fitzgerald, A.T.C., Marshall Orthopaedics <\/span>will provide comprehensive sports medicine services to the Charleston Dirty Birds.<\/span> Players will have access to a team of highly skilled Marshall Health Network physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists using state-of-the-art techniques and technology.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBaseball has been a time-honored tradition in the Charleston community, and Marshall Orthopaedics is proud to support these athletes as they pursue their passion on the diamond,\u201d said Lavender, an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. <\/span>“Our goal is to keep them healthy, resilient and performing at their best, both on and off the field.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Marshall Orthopaedics also serves as the official provider for Marshall Athletics, numerous high schools and middle schools across southern West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, as well as community events such as the Marshall Marathon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
