HUNTINGTON, W.Va.<\/strong> – <\/span>Marshall Health Network is pleased to announce the addition of <\/span>fellowship-<\/span>trained pediatric cardiologist <\/span><\/span>Mariam Opel, M.D.<\/span><\/span><\/a>, to its team of pediatric specialists.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opel <\/span>specializes in<\/span> the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease, <\/span>arrhythmias<\/span> and cardiovascular disease in children. <\/span>She joins<\/span> Marshall Health <\/span>pediatric cardiologists, <\/span><\/span>Jeffrey K. Harris, M.D.<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span> and <\/span><\/span>Jack R. Stines, M.D.<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span> associate professors of pediatrics at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Together, they provide<\/span> experienced<\/span> cardiac care to children at Marshall Pediatrics and <\/span>Hoops Family Children\u2019s <\/span>Hospital at <\/span>Cabell Huntington Hospital.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Opel<\/span> earned her medical degree from <\/span>Aga Khan<\/span> University in <\/span>Karachi, Pakistan<\/span>. She completed her pediatric residency at <\/span>Tulane University\/Ochs<\/span>n<\/span>er Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana<\/span>, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the <\/span>University of Miami\/Jackson Memorial Hospital<\/span> in <\/span>Miami<\/span>, Florida.<\/span> She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In addition to her clinical work, Opel serves as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. <\/span>She <\/span>is<\/span> focus<\/span>ed<\/span> on<\/span> improving quality of life and transition of care in children growing up with congenital heart disease.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
