{"id":27205,"date":"2024-08-27T16:32:30","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T20:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=27205"},"modified":"2024-08-27T16:32:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T20:32:30","slug":"recommended-campus-reading-announced-for-third-year-of-marshall-universitys-hlc-quality-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2024\/08\/recommended-campus-reading-announced-for-third-year-of-marshall-universitys-hlc-quality-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Recommended campus reading announced for third year of Marshall University\u2019s HLC Quality Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>As Marshall University begins its third and final year of the Higher Learning Commission\u2019s Quality Initiative, book selections for campus-wide reading have been selected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall Semester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 \u201cDoubly Erased: LGBTQ Literature in Appalachia\u201d by Dr. Allison Carey \u2013 Dr. Carey will present a reading from her book on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. on Marshall\u2019s Huntington campus in the Drinko Library Atrium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring Semester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 \u201cSolito: A Memoir\u201d by Javier Zamora \u2013 Mr. Zamora will moderate two conversations on Thursday, March 6. One of the conversations will be held exclusively for students, while the other is for the general public, as part of the Masters at Marshall Distinguished Speaker Series, through the Marshall Artists Series.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative\u2019s book selections for campus-wide reading are an effort to support and stimulate conversation about the HLC Quality Initiative, Building a Stronger and More Inclusive Marshall Community. The initiative, now in its third year, aims to promote a welcoming community for all at Marshall. It\u2019s part of Marshall\u2019s accreditation process by the Higher Learning Commission through its Open Pathways Accreditation Model, which must be completed during the latter part of its 10-year accreditation cycle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Marshall University begins its third and final year of the Higher Learning Commission\u2019s Quality Initiative, book selections for campus-wide reading have been selected.
