{"id":27674,"date":"2025-01-21T16:37:10","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T21:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=27674"},"modified":"2025-01-21T16:37:10","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T21:37:10","slug":"marshall-recreation-center-announces-indoor-triathlon-adds-new-kids-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2025\/01\/marshall-recreation-center-announces-indoor-triathlon-adds-new-kids-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall Recreation Center announces Indoor Triathlon, adds new kids\u2019 event"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Marshall Recreation Center announces the return of the annual Indoor Triathlon at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 1, featuring a new kids\u2019 event for 2025: the Splash and Dash.<\/p>\n<p>The events are entirely indoors and welcome participants ages 5 and older of all skill levels to stay active during the winter months.<br \/>\nThe Indoor Triathlon is a time-based event that includes the following age divisions and multi-sports:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth Age Division (13-17):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Swim: <\/strong>150 yards in the indoor pool<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bike:<\/strong> 4 miles on stationary bikes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Run:<\/strong> 1 mile on the indoor track<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Adult Age Divisions (18-60+):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Swim: <\/strong>300 yards in the indoor pool<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bike: <\/strong>8 miles on stationary bikes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Run:<\/strong> 2 miles on treadmills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participant scores are based on the total distance covered during each activity, making the event accessible for both beginners and experienced athletes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New event: Kids Splash and Dash<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Kids Splash and Dash is a new addition designed for children seeking a shorter, high-energy experience. It combines a swim and run in a simplified format, with distances tailored to age groups.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ages 5-6:<\/strong> 25-yard swim \/ two track laps<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ages 7-8:<\/strong> 50-yard swim \/ five track laps<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ages 9-10:<\/strong> 75-yard swim \/ seven track laps<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ages 11-12:<\/strong> 100-yard swim \/ nine track laps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited.
