Marshall University is proud to announce the 2025 Marshall Day at the Capitol celebration, an annual occasion that shines a spotlight on the institution’s distinctive growth areas like aviation, health care, entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, energy and cybersecurity and forensics, as well as statewide collaborations that impact communities across West Virginia.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, March 4, Marshall University President Brad D. Smith, faculty, staff, students and Marco will bring their green and white spirit and interactive displays to the West Virginia State Capitol, offering a glimpse into the vibrant community that defines Marshall.\u202fThis year\u2019s theme is Marshall Impact, showcasing the positive impact Marshall is making across the state.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The festivities will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Marshall Morning Breakfast Reception in the lower rotunda, followed by displays and presentations in the upper rotunda and conclude with a group photo at 12:30 p.m. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adding to the excitement this year, members of the Capitol and Greater Kanawha Alumni Chapters will be in attendance. \u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMarshall Day at the Capitol gives legislators a look at Marshall\u2019s successes and impact,\u201d said Matt James, vice president of alumni relations. \u201cThis year, we\u2019re lucky to have two of our alumni chapters from the state capitol region joining us. It\u2019s important to highlight not only what we do on our campuses but also how our alumni contribute to our state.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sara Payne Scarbro, associate vice president of government relations and external affairs, said the long-standing tradition is a highlight for the university.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThe day allows our university family to highlight the incredible work underway at our institution,\u201d Payne Scarbro said. \u201cThe main goal is to share how Marshall is making a statewide difference \u2013 a collective impact.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She said it\u2019s expected that both the House of Delegates and the State Senate will take up a resolution for Marshall Day.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Charlotte Weber, vice president of government relations, emphasized the cooperative nature of the event. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a fantastic collaborative event, and we could not do what we do without the support and involvement of everyone at Marshall University,\u201d Weber said. \u201cOur hats are off to the amazing people at Marshall University who work every day to make a difference in our students’ lives and in the future prosperity of our state.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Marshall\u2019s Student Government Association, the President\u2019s Office, the Provost\u2019s Office, Alumni Affairs, the Marshall University Foundation, Marshall Health Network, the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Government Relations, the Marshall University Research Corporation, Marshall Athletics and University Marketing and Communications, among others are part of the planning committee.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Participating departments are encouraged to use the hashtags #MarshallUDay and #MarshallUImpact for their posts across social media that day.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
