{"id":27944,"date":"2025-04-01T15:43:39","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T19:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=27944"},"modified":"2025-04-01T15:44:42","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T19:44:42","slug":"marshall-university-civil-engineering-student-professor-win-first-prize-at-asce-virginias-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2025\/04\/marshall-university-civil-engineering-student-professor-win-first-prize-at-asce-virginias-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall University civil engineering student, professor win first prize at ASCE Virginias Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Marshall University junior Josh Brubaker, a civil engineering student secured first place in the \u201cHardy Cross\u201d oral research presentation competition at the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) 2025 Virginias Conference on Saturday, March 29, in Beckley, West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Brubaker presented his engineering research, &#8220;<span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">A Computational Investigation of a Non-Homogeneous Elastic Material Undergoing Wave Propagation,\u201d <\/span>alongside his mentor, Dr. Arka Chattopadhyay, an assistant professor of engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The duo competed against research universities, including Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia and West Virginia University.
