The Women\u2019s Center and the Women\u2019s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at Marshall University have announced the recipients of the 2025 Women of Marshall Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to gender equity through leadership, research, activism and service.<\/p>\n

Catalyst for Change Award \u2013 Lillian Hager<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lillian (Lily) Hager received the Catalyst for Change Award for her unwavering dedication to advocating for women\u2019s rights, community well-being, and student safety both on and off campus.<\/p>\n

Throughout her time at Marshall University, she has led service projects, conducted impactful gender-based research, and created harm-reduction programs focused on health, safety, and education.<\/p>\n

Her leadership roles in Greek life, connection to Title IX advocacy, and founding of a philanthropic small business further highlight her commitment to creating inclusive, supportive spaces for all students. Lily\u2019s compassion, activism, and hands-on support for women in crisis truly exemplify the spirit of this award.<\/p>\n

Her work as a scholar and educator focuses on identity development, dismantling stereotypes like the \u201cModel Minority Myth\u201d and \u201cBamboo Ceiling,\u201d and promoting intercultural awareness.<\/p>\n

Through her teaching, research, and mentorship, she has created meaningful change both within Marshall University and in the broader academic and international community. Her efforts embody the spirit of the Impact Award by fostering a more inclusive and socially just educational environment.<\/p>\n

As an Associate Professor at the School of Pharmacy, she has mentored and supported countless students\u2014especially women and underrepresented minorities\u2014through academic guidance and professional development. Her leadership extends across campus committees and numerous community organizations, where she promotes inclusivity and empowerment. A respected scientist, Dr. Jones has also contributed significantly to research in biopharmaceutics and inclusive learning environments. Her many accolades reflect a lifelong commitment to uplifting others and driving meaningful change in both academia and the broader community.<\/p>\n

As a scholar, educator, and leader, Dr. Miller has consistently embodied the values of equity, civic engagement, and intellectual rigor. Since joining Marshall in 1996, she has distinguished herself through award-winning teaching, significant scholarly contributions\u2014including her acclaimed book Feeding Barcelona, \u2014and an unwavering commitment to inclusive academic and community initiatives.<\/p>\n

As Executive Director of the John Deaver Drinko Academy, she has expanded civic engagement programming, supported interdisciplinary scholarship, and fostered dialogue on constitutional democracy, particularly elevating the voices of women and marginalized communities.
