Smith said Christie-David brings with him an exceptional record of academic leadership, scholarly achievement and a deep commitment to student success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was an extensive and thoughtful search process for a critical leadership role,\u201d Smith said. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019m deeply grateful to the search committee, under the direction of Dean Dr. Dave Dampier, dean of our College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, as well as our provost and senior vice president for academic affairs Dr. Avi Mukherjee, for their dedication to the selection process. I\u2019m also grateful for those across our campus who participated in the on-campus interviews and surveys that helped guide the selection of Dr. Christie-David. Their engagement was instrumental in choosing a leader who will elevate our College of Business to new heights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mukherjee said the university\u2019s brand and future opportunities led to a very strong applicant pool that ultimately led to the selection of Christie-David.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe brings a strong vision for academic excellence, a deep commitment to student success, and a proven record of leadership,\u201d Mukherjee said. \u201cI am confident that under their guidance, the college will continue to thrive and expand its impact locally, nationally, and globally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christie-David currently serves as the dean of the College of Business at Texas A&amp;M University\u2013San Antonio and has previously held deanships at the University of Colorado Denver and the University of Louisville (interim).<\/p>\n<p>An award-winning researcher, he specializes in banking, financial derivatives, market microstructure and corporate finance. With more than 40 articles as author, his writing has been published in elite and high-quality business journals, including the \u201cJournal of Business,\u201d \u201cAcademy of Management Journal,\u201d \u201cJournal of Banking and Finance\u201d and \u201cJournal of Futures Markets.\u201d Notably, he was ranked among the \u201cMost Prolific Authors in Finance Literature 1959\u20132008.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Christie-David earned a master\u2019s degree with distinction from Wake Forest University and completed his doctorate in business administration (finance) from the University of South Carolina.\u00a0 He also holds an advanced certification, ACIB, \u00a0from the Chartered Institute of Bankers (London). Throughout his career, he has led innovative academic programs that have earned national recognition and consistently placed student outcomes at the forefront.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ben Eng, the interim dean of the Lewis College of Business since July 2024, will be returning to the faculty in the marketing department as an associate professor and will also serve as assistant provost for academic engagement and innovation in academic affairs.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marshall University is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Rohan Christie-David as the new dean of the Lewis College of Business, effective Aug. 4.
