Smith Schools of Business at Marshall University announced a series of personnel appointments that align with the university\u2019s strategic priorities of enhancing student achievement through experiential learning and fostering innovation and economic impact in Marshall&#8217;s areas of distinction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled for this exceptional group of scholar-leaders at the Lewis College of Business,\u201d said Dr. Ben Eng, interim dean. \u201cTheir expertise and passion will undoubtedly further our college\u2019s mission to create and share business knowledge that brings prosperity to our students, West Virginia and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>New faculty hires<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. Huayi Tang \u2013 assistant professor and director, Marshall University Student Investment Management Program<br \/>\nTang joins the Department of Finance, Economics, and International Business with a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Utah. A Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), he brings expertise in corporate and municipal finance, institutional investing and sustainability. His research includes a forthcoming article in the Journal of Accounting Research on racial disparities in financial complaints. Tang previously taught at the University of Kentucky and University of Utah and served as an account manager at China Everbright Bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. David Wiley \u2013 term associate professor and director, Brad D. Smith Student Incubator; academic affairs fellow in AI education<br \/>\nWiley brings extensive experience in generative AI, open education and entrepreneurship. He has founded or co-founded several organizations including Lumen Learning and Degree and has been recognized by Fast Company as one of the \u201c100 Most Creative People in Business.\u201d He has also served as an Education Fellow at Creative Commons and president of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology from 2022-2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New center directors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. Monisha Gupta \u2013 director, Service Wire Company Transformative Sales and Service Excellence Center<br \/>\nGupta, a term associate professor of marketing, has years of industry experience and previously served as director of the Truist Center for Leadership. She has a Ph.D. in economics and has led initiatives such as the Truist Emerging Leaders Certificate Program. She has received the Dr. Robert P. Alexander Mentorship Award and the LCOB Faculty Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. Susan Lanham \u2013 director, Center for Cyber Innovation in Business<br \/>\nLanham, associate professor of accounting, is a forensic accounting expert with more than 30 years of litigation support experience. She earned a GIAC Open Source Intelligence certification and teaches courses in forensic and investigative accounting. Her work has been published in the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting and Suffolk University Law Review.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. Jeff Larson \u2013 director, Center of Excellence in Healthcare Management Research<br \/>\nLarson, assistant professor in the Department of Management and Health Care Administration, brings 22 years of hospital system leadership experience. His research focuses on leadership in health care and has been published in Medical Care Research and Review and Health Care Management Review. He earned a Ph.D. in management and organizations from the University of Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dr. Uyi Lawani \u2013 director, Truist Center for Leadership<br \/>\nLawani, associate professor of strategic management, has been with the college since 2006 and is a recipient of the Dr. Robert P. Alexander Mentorship Award. He has served on numerous university committees and published research in the International Journal of Healthcare Management and Pan-Pacific Journal of Business Research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Lewis College of Business and Brad D. Smith Schools of Business<br \/>\n<\/strong>Established in 1969, the Lewis College of Business is housed in the 78,000-square-foot Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation. The college holds dual AACSB accreditation in business and accounting. It serves as a hub for collaboration and economic development in Marshall\u2019s IDEA district.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Brad D. Smith Student Incubator<br \/>\n<\/strong>A partnership between the Lewis College of Business, Honors College and the iCenter, the incubator empowers student entrepreneurs with mentorship and resources to launch ventures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Service Wire Company Transformative Sales and Service Excellence Center<br \/>\n<\/strong>The center offers hands-on training and development in sales and service, preparing students for successful careers through industry collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Center for Cyber Innovation in Business<br \/>\n<\/strong>This center supports education and research at the intersection of cybersecurity and business, fostering innovation and economic policy in the Tri-State area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Center of Excellence in Healthcare Management Research<br \/>\n<\/strong>This center focused on regional healthcare issues such as addiction, gerontology, rural health and obesity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Truist Center for Leadership<br \/>\n<\/strong>The center delivers innovative leadership programs and industry certifications that equip students for academic and career success.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lewis College of Business and Brad D.
