{"id":28408,"date":"2025-07-23T14:27:40","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T18:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=28408"},"modified":"2025-07-23T15:37:33","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T19:37:33","slug":"ethics-in-behavioral-health-and-peer-support-state-conference-set-for-august-in-sutton-w-va","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2025\/07\/ethics-in-behavioral-health-and-peer-support-state-conference-set-for-august-in-sutton-w-va\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethics in behavioral health and peer support state conference set for August in Sutton, W.Va."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The West Virginia Behavioral Health Training Center, a project of Marshall University\u2019s Center of Excellence for Recovery, will host the 2025\u202fPathways to Integrity: Ethics in Behavioral Health and Peer Support Conference on Aug.\u202f5 and 6 at the Flatwoods Conference Center in Sutton, W.Va.\u00a0 The two-day, in-person gathering is presented in partnership with the Opioid Response Network in SAMHSA Region\u202f3.<\/p>\n<p>Building on last year\u2019s Nexus Ethics Summit, the event is designed to elevate ethical standards and foster collaboration across behavioral health and peer support disciplines. Attendees will engage in immersive workshops, analyze real-world case studies and participate in scenario-based discussions designed to challenge conventional thinking and elevate practice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis conference is about more than ethics training \u2014 it\u2019s about bringing together professionals with diverse experiences and shared values to strengthen integrity in behavioral health practice,\u201d said Kelly Wiltsey, project director of the West Virginia Behavioral Health Training Center. \u201cWhether you work in direct care, systems-level planning or peer support, this event will offer you tools, perspectives and meaningful connections that last far beyond the two days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conference topics and settings will include behavioral health (both private practice and school-based), addictions and prevention and peer recovery support.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will gain practical tools for ethical decision-making, strategies to address systemic barriers and approaches to promote culturally responsive care.<\/p>\n<p>Conference registration is free.
