While the screening is not a formal diagnosis, it is designed to help individuals who may be experiencing symptoms of depression take the first step toward seeking professional support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepression is a highly treatable condition, with a variety of effective treatments available,\u201d said Dr. Keith Beard, director of the psychology doctoral program at Marshall. \u201cA screening can be the start of an important conversation that helps connect someone with the support they need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An estimated 40 million adults in the United States are affected by anxiety or depression.
