{"id":28740,"date":"2025-10-21T11:43:58","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T15:43:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=28740"},"modified":"2025-12-03T12:09:01","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:09:01","slug":"marshall-launches-telebehavioral-health-microcredential","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2025\/10\/marshall-launches-telebehavioral-health-microcredential\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall launches Telebehavioral Health Microcredential"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Marshall University\u2019s departments of counseling, psychology, school psychology and social work, have launched a new interdisciplinary Telebehavioral Health Microcredential course, designed to prepare behavioral health students and professionals with the skills, standards and strategies needed to deliver effective behavioral health services in various virtual settings.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual, on-demand program is offered at no cost, providing 10 contact hours of training. The course is Board Certified\u2013Telemental Health (BC-TMH) approved and is delivered in an asynchronous format for flexible access. The course is supported by a U.S. Department of Labor \u2013 Employment and Training Administration grant, administered by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program strengthens the ability of mental health professionals to meet clients where they are \u2014 whether in schools, homes or other integrated care settings,\u201d said Dr. Eric Beeson, professor and chair of Marshall\u2019s Counseling Department. \u201cWe are proud to provide high-quality, accessible training that advances both professional practice and community care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By the end of the course, participants will be able to:<br \/>\n\u2022 Identify and apply ethical, legal and regulatory standards relevant to telebehavioral health<br \/>\n\u2022 Design culturally responsive protocols for engaging clients in virtual settings<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrate strategies for effective session preparation, facilitation and assessment<br \/>\n\u2022 Analyze complex ethical dilemmas and clinical scenarios specific to telebehavioral health<\/p>\n<p>Marshall University is qualified by the Center for Credentialing &amp; Education, Inc. (CCE) as a Registered Credential Training Provider. This qualification allows Marshall to offer courses eligible for credit toward the Board Certified-Telemental Health (BC-TMH) Credential.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost to create this Telebehavioral Health Microcredential program was $14,590.
