{"id":28914,"date":"2025-11-11T12:08:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T17:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/?p=28914"},"modified":"2025-11-11T12:36:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T17:36:22","slug":"marshall-to-host-4th-annual-trio-upward-bound-steam-day-for-students-from-across-west-virginia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/news\/2025\/11\/marshall-to-host-4th-annual-trio-upward-bound-steam-day-for-students-from-across-west-virginia\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshall to host 4th Annual TRIO Upward Bound STEAM Day for students from across West Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Marshall University Upward Bound Program will host its 4th Annual STEAM Day from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, on Marshall\u2019s Huntington campus.<\/p>\n<p>The event will bring together Upward Bound students from across West Virginia, including participants from Concord University, West Virginia State University and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission\u2019s Upward Bound Math and Science Program in Wheeling, as well as local Health Science and Technology Academy (HSTA) students.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, students will take part in interactive sessions hosted by the School of Physical Therapy, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall Recruitment and programs including forensics and engineering. <span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The event aims to expose students to a variety of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) career paths and showcase the opportunities available to them at Marshall University and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTRIO Upward Bound STEAM Day is a great chance for students to explore different careers and discover new careers that they may not have thought about,\u201d said Eugene Lacy, director of the Upward Bound Program. \u201cThis event is a great opportunity for students from across the state to explore different career fields and experience what Marshall has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>STEAM Day activities will be held in the Robert C. Byrd Biotechnology Science Center and Harris Hall.
