Beginning at noon on April 22, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters are encouraged to make a gift in support of scholarships and programs of their choosing, or toward the university’s greatest needs.

“Day of Giving is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” said Nico Karagosian, president and CEO of the Marshall University Foundation. “Each gift, no matter the size, helps open doors for our students and strengthens Marshall’s future. It’s through the generosity of our donors and alumni that we’re able to expand opportunities, support student success and continue building a stronger university for generations to come.”

The event includes several challenges and match opportunities that are designed to boost engagement and increase impact. Last year, supporters raised a record-breaking $275,189 with 664 gifts made by 591 individual donors.

Beyond making a gift, supporters can also sign up as ambassadors to help raise awareness about Day of Giving through email and social media, ultimately helping grow both awareness and donor participation. The ambassador who secures the most individual donors will receive a Marshall-themed swag bag.

“Last year was a huge success, thanks to the support of our Marshall community,” said Griffin Talbott, senior director of annual giving. “Whether people gave financially or helped spread the word as ambassadors, everyone played a part. That’s what makes the day special. It really takes the whole Herd to make it happen.”

Eighty-eight percent of Marshall’s undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance. Additionally, in 2025, Marshall increased its enrollment by 7.5%, and since 2022, it has grown by more than 22%. Gifts made during Day of Giving in support of scholarships help ease the financial burden for students, making a Marshall education more accessible and affordable.

For more information about making an impact through giving or to become an ambassador, visit givingday.marshall.edu.

Marshall University has announced April 22-23 as the dates for its fifth annual Day of Giving: 1837 Minutes for Marshall, which aims to raise funds in support of students, programs and campus priorities.
