Edwards Performing Arts Center.<\/p>\n<p>The production has a special connection to Marshall, bringing together several artists with ties to the university and its theatre program.<\/p>\n<p>The play is directed by Courtney Susman-Frye, artistic director of Greenbrier Valley Theatre and an alumna of the Marshall University School of Theatre &amp; Dance. Ethan Lyvers, also an alumnus of Marshall\u2019s theatre program, portrays Mitch, while Jack Cirillo, professor of theatre and director of Marshall\u2019s School of Theatre &amp; Dance, takes on the role of Morrie.<\/p>\n<p>Based on Mitch Albom\u2019s bestselling memoir, \u201cTuesdays with Morrie\u201d was adapted for the stage by Jeffrey Hatcher and Albom. The play follows Mitch, a successful journalist who reconnects with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, who is facing a terminal illness. Their Tuesday visits become a series of conversations about friendship, love, loss and what it means to live a meaningful life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know &#8220;Tuesdays with Morrie&#8221; sounds like it might be a heavy night out, but it\u2019s actually the exact opposite. It\u2019s incredibly warm and genuinely funny,\u201d said Sam Kincaid, director of projects for Marshall\u2019s School of Theatre &amp; Dance. \u201cIt&#8217;s just a simple, powerful story about a guy learning what actually matters from his old professor. Whether you love the book or are totally new to it, you\u2019ll walk out feeling really good. Do yourself a favor and catch this one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTuesdays with Morrie\u201d runs Aug. 28 through Sept. 12 at Greenbrier Valley Theatre in Lewisburg, West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The Sept. 9 Huntington performance is presented through a partnership between Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Marshall University School of Theatre &amp; Dance and the Marshall Artists Series.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the Huntington performance, planned for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, are available through Ticketmaster or can be purchased at the Box Office of the Joan C.
