This is a hands-on way to give back to the Huntington community while reflecting on the day&#8217;s significance.<\/p>\n<p>10:00 AM: Support for Community Partners<br \/>\nLocation: A.D. Lewis Center<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Join us as we volunteer to renovate spaces and support the important work being done at the A.D. Lewis Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, September 11, 2026<\/strong><br \/>\n6:00 AM \u2013 7:30 AM: 9\/11 Memorial Stair Challenge<br \/>\nLocation: Joan C. Edwards Football Stadium<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Join us as we climb 2,200 steps in the football stadium, symbolizing the heroic journey of first responders who climbed the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. The challenge stands as a physical tribute to their sacrifice. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>8:00 AM \u2013 9:30 AM: Heroes\u2019 Breakfast<br \/>\nLocation: BE5, Lower Level of the Memorial Student Center<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: We will honor our local first responders and veterans with a pancake and bacon breakfast. Additional programming, including guest speakers, will be included. (Reserved for first responders and veterans)<\/p>\n<p>10:00 AM \u2013 11:00 AM: Tribute Walk<br \/>\nLocation: Begins at the Memorial Student Center (5th Avenue Side)<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Join us as we honor the lives of all who were lost in the September 11, 2001, attacks, including Marshall University alumnus Dr. Paul Ambrose and the first responders who gave their lives in service to others. The walk offers a quiet, reflective moment for participants to pause and remember and will be followed by a series of guest speakers on the Memorial Student Center Plaza.<\/p>\n<p>12:00 PM \u2013 3:00 PM: First Responder Vehicle Wash<br \/>\nLocation: Joan C. Edwards Playhouse Plaza<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Join us as campus volunteers wash vehicles for local law enforcement and first responder agencies. Any first responders in attendance will receive complimentary lunch.<\/p>\n<p>8:00 A.M. &#8211; 4:00 P.M.: Cancer Screenings<br \/>\nLocation: MSC Plaza<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Marshall Health and the Edwards Cancer Institute will be providing oral and skin cancer screenings, as well as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests to those 45-75 within the \u201caverage risk\u201d demographic and 40+ for those in the \u201chigh risk\u201d demographic. There will also be an opportunity for firefighters to schedule a free lung cancer screening, which will be held on November 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM \u2013 4:00 PM, at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, September 12, 2026<\/strong><br \/>\n10:00 AM \u2013 1:00 PM: First Responder Softball Game<br \/>\nLocation: Jack Cook Field<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: Join us on game day to cheer on our local police and fire departments as they step up to the plate in the First Responder Softball Game. If able, please bring items to support our Hunger Relief Drive [See below].<\/p>\n<p>10:00 AM \u2013 1:00 PM: Hunger Relief Drive<br \/>\nLocation: Jack Cook Field<br \/>\nWhat to Expect: While at the First Responder Softball Game, help support our local veterans by donating to the Hunger Relief Drive.
