Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the three-year grant provides $200,000 annually to support the Appalachian Mental Health Awareness Training Hub.<\/p>\n<p>Through the initiative, the Center of Excellence for Recovery will provide training, education and resources throughout Regions 5 and 6, helping communities increase awareness of mental health and substance use disorders while strengthening connections to prevention, treatment and recovery support. Training opportunities may include mental health awareness, suicide prevention, crisis intervention and other evidence-based approaches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited that we can continue to expand awareness and training around mental health and substance use conditions and help individuals better intervene when someone is experiencing a difficult time,\u201d said Austin Persinger, MSI, MHAT grant director. \u201cI am especially excited to expand the MHAT Hub to include both Regions 5 and 6.
