The plan below is subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The plan at this time is for classes to meet in person in the fall (excluding online classes and virtual classes). Students will be required to wear masks at all times while in class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clinical<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The School of Nursing will provide Pre-Licensure BSN students with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks and face shields for use in the clinical area. If the clinical agency does not provide PPE for Family Nurse Practitioner students, students in this program may request PPE from the School of Nursing.<\/li>\n<li>We hope to be able to allow Pre-Licensure BSN students to pre-plan the night before clinical as we have in the past (excluding clinical that does not require pre-planning). This situation is still fluid and we will know more closer to the beginning of the fall semester.<\/li>\n<li>Facilities may require students be fully vaccinated prior to allowing students in the facility. We are in discussion with our clinical agencies and will let students know when this decision is made. In the meantime, the <strong>School of Nursing encourages students to get vaccinated<\/strong> in case this decision is not made by the agencies until the beginning of the fall semester.<\/li>\n<li>Students and Faculty will be required to check and document their temperature and complete a checklist regarding COVID symptoms before each clinical and lab day.<\/li>\n<li>While completing clinical experiences at Marshall University, no undergraduate students will be assigned to patients who are at-risk, have a test pending or have tested positive for COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>For ongoing clinical in the MSN Program, students and faculty are asked to adhere to the clinical sites COVID-19 procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_x_x_xmsonormal\"><b>{To nursing students and faculty participating in <i>clinical or project-based experiences<\/i> at Cabell Huntington Hospital or St. Mary&#8217;s Medical Center:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_x_xmsonormal\">Mountain Health Network which includes <b>Cabell Huntington Hospital<\/b> and <b>St. Mary\u2019s Medical Center<\/b> is requiring all students and faculty to be fully vaccinated against the <span class=\"markfd1v5dnyc\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">COVID<\/span>-19 virus by October 30, 2021. The term \u201cfully vaccinated\u201d refers to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two (2) weeks after receiving the second vaccine dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson &amp; Johnson\u2019s Janssen vaccine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><b>This means you need to have completed the vaccine series by October 16, 2021<\/b>! And submitted a copy of your vaccination card to <a href=\"mailto:musonstudentrecords@marshall.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">musonstudentrecords@marshall.edu<\/a> by Monday, October 18, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>University Health and safety officials have collaborated with the Cabell-Huntington Health Department to make <strong>FREE<\/strong> <span class=\"markfd1v5dnyc\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">COVID<\/span>-19 vaccinations available to Marshall students and employees through walk-in clinics in Cabell County. <strong>No appointments are necessary and there is no charge. See Vaccination Clinic schedule at <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/coronavirus\/return-to-campus-fall-2021\/testing-and-vaccine-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/coronavirus\/return-to-campus-fall-2021\/testing-and-vaccine-information\/<\/a><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Marshall University is currently administering only the Moderna vaccine. This vaccine requires 28 days between the 2 shot series. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exceptions may be granted for medical or religious reasons. The exception forms are attached to this email. These forms must be sent to Jo Andrea Watson at <a href=\"mailto:joandrea.watson@mhnetwork.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">joandrea.watson@mhnetwork.org<\/a> by September 21, 2021. In the subject line of the email put \u201cClinical Rotation <span class=\"markfd1v5dnyc\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">COVID<\/span> vaccine Exception Request\u201d and mark high importance.\u00a0 Where it asks for supervisor name put: Dr. Denise Landry<\/p>\n<p>Any student\/instructor granted an exception will be required to undergo regular asymptomatic testing for <span class=\"markfd1v5dnyc\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">COVID<\/span>-19 no less frequently than one (1) time per week. Failure to do so could jeopardize your progression in the nursing program.}<\/div>\n<p><strong>Counseling Services<\/strong><br \/>\nMarshall University\u2019s Counseling Center is committed to providing you with the opportunity to explore concerns with a professional counselor in a confidential setting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they are offering these services via phone, video sessions, and e-mail. Services may include, but are not limited to, counseling focused on mental health symptoms such as depression and anxiety, including test anxiety, stress management, conflict resolution, anger management, and relationship concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact the Counseling Center if you have any questions or wish to avail yourself of these services, at 304-696-3111 or email: <a href=\"mailto:counselingcenter@marshall.edu\">counselingcenter@marshall.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Volunteer opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Blood donation<\/strong> &#8211; With the COVID-19 outbreak, hundreds of blood drives have been canceled and blood donations have been severely affected. Students are encouraged to contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redcross.org\/\">American Red Cross<\/a> for ways to help.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Helping neighbors and family members<\/strong> &#8211; Reach out to your neighbors and family members who are at higher risk of serious infection if contracting COVID-19.
