Fifty-one (51) hours of credit are required for the nurse midwifery area of emphasis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The three components of the Master of Science in Nursing curriculum:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The core curriculum component is comprised of twelve (12) credit hours that focuses on knowledge and skills related to nursing and related theories, leadership, advanced nursing research, and issues.<\/li>\n<li>The area of emphasis component, which includes the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.su.edu\/nursing\/graduate-degrees-post-masters-certificate\/nurse-midwifery-programs\/\">Nurse Midwifery<\/a> area of emphasis (13 credits from Marshall and 19 from Shenandoah University) which provides an opportunity to develop competency as a nurse midwife.<\/li>\n<li>The elective component (3 credits) for the NE and (6 credits) NA areas of emphasis allows students to choose one of four options: 1) thesis, 2) role development courses in teaching, or 3) elective courses related to the student\u2019s area of interest, or 4) organizational dynamics or financial strategies in administration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon successful completion of the program,\u00a0Nurse Midwifery graduates are eligible to take the American Midwifery Certification Board Exam.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<p>Shenandoah University&#8217;s Nurse-Midwifery Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
