The Office of Research Integrity’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have been updated.
This most recent update includes a clarification as to when a research study must receive Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) review and approval. On page 111 of the revised SOP it states that if a study involves any additional (meaning above the normal standard of care) radiation procedures (i.e. x-rays that are for research purposes only) then RSC review is required to determine if risks are minimized.
