Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Joseph A. Barnhart received his PharmD from Ohio Northern University in 2017. Following graduation, he stayed at Ohio Northern to complete a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency focused in ambulatory care with ONU HealthWise, a clinic that provides services to ONU’s employees, students, and the surrounding community. During his residency, Dr. Barnhart was involved in various projects including helping to open a community pharmacy on Ohio Northern’s campus and expanding the ONU HealthWise Rural Mobile Health Clinic’s services to include a hepatitis C screening.
Dr. Barnhart joined the Marshall University School of Pharmacy as a Clinical Assistant Professor in July of 2018 after completing his PGY1 residency. In addition to his role at the school, Dr. Barnhart maintains a practice site at St. Mary’s Medical Center where he serves as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in transitions of care. Dr. Barnhart also co-founded the High School Educational Resource Development (HERD) program which aims to engage local high school students in the profession of pharmacy.
