Please contact your designated physics advisor. Physics waives the elective physics courses for students double majoring in physics and another science. This includes also students with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) with Emphasis in Physics.

Minor in Physics
If your intended major is Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry or any other science and have an interest in physics, a Minor in Physics will allow you to specifically choose physics subjects that most interest you.
Students in the pre-health care professions, who must pursue a minor to meet graduation requirements, or who are interested in bio and medical physics applications, are encouraged to pursue a Minor in Physics. Students majoring in Engineering will benefit from a Minor in Physics as well. This will equip students with an opportunity to strengthen and broaden their educational credentials, as an enhancement of future employment prospects.

B.A. in Secondary Education with Emphasis on Physics
If you are interested in teaching and are passionate about science, consider a B.A. in Secondary Education with Emphasis on Physics. We work closely with the College of Education and Professional Development, who offers a B.A. in Secondary Education through the Physics 9-Adult program. It is within this program where we ensure students are well prepared to become teachers with a strong background in Physics. Please see the College of Education and Professional Development section for the requirements for the B.A. This degree is designed for Physics Teachers and students with multidisciplinary interests. Although there is a core of required courses, this is a flexible track and we can make adjustments to meet individual preferences.

Master of Science in Physical and Applied Sciences (GS60)
In cooperation with Chemistry, Geology, Computer and Information Technology, and Mathematics; we offer a Master of Science in Physical and Applied Sciences Program (GS60). This program is intended to provide the opportunity for students with diverse qualifications to improve the depth and breadth of their knowledge in the Physical Sciences.
Within the program, we offer the Physics for Teachers Area of Emphasis. The AOE in Physics for Teachers is an online program, targeted towards practicing secondary school teachers who wish to become qualified to instruct advanced placement, dual enrollment, or early college courses, as well as towards students interested in Physics Education.

Master of Science in Physics (GS80)
Within the Master of Science in Physics and Applied Sciences Program students can pursue a Master of Science in Physics Degree. Students with an undergraduate degree in physics or related fields are encouraged to apply to this major to advance in their knowledge of physics, and to pursue their career goals in industry, government, or teaching. Our Master’s in Physics major has been designed to meet the needs of students who are either interested in obtaining an M.S. in Physics as their terminal degree, or want to further go on graduate study in physics, astronomy, or other fields, as a bridge to a Ph.D. program. Moreover, graduates with an M.S. in Physics usually are hired in well paid jobs, which require a high level of problem-solving or technical skills, in the federal or private sector.

Accelerated Graduate Degree in Physics

The Accelerated Graduate Degree (AGD) program in Physics is your opportunity to jump-start your advanced studies while completing your undergraduate degree. Eligible juniors and seniors can take up to 12 hours of graduate-level courses that count toward both their undergraduate and graduate degree requirements. This unique option saves you time and effort, making the transition to graduate school seamless and efficient.

Your graduate coursework will appear exclusively on your graduate transcript and will contribute to your graduate GPA, setting a solid foundation for your advanced academic and professional success.

Bachelor of Science in Physics We are delighted that you are interested to pursue a Major in Physics.
