{"id":185,"date":"2016-08-11T16:01:48","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T21:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/public-health\/?page_id=185"},"modified":"2025-05-02T14:31:49","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T19:31:49","slug":"mphadmission","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/public-health\/mphadmission\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission Requirements for the MPH Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Submission of the\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/graduate-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Application for Graduate Admission<\/a>\u201d and\u00a0payment of the\u00a0application\u00a0fee to\u00a0the Marshall University Graduate College.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must hold a bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum undergraduate grade-point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.\u00a0 Waivers to the GPA requirement may be made in very exceptional circumstances, such as when prior satisfactory graduate school performance has been demonstrated.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of the application to the MPH program, including personal statement not to exceed two pages in length.<\/li>\n<li>Receipt of official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions by the Graduate College of Marshall University, and official transcripts of other coursework as the program may require.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of three (3) letters of recommendation. At least two must be from previous faculty if the applicant has engaged in full-time post-secondary study in the previous five years.<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: Students are admitted into the MPH program during the fall and spring semesters, respectively.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>How\u00a0your Application is Evaluated<\/h2>\n<p>We\u00a0consider the\u00a0<em>totality<\/em> of each applicant&#8217;s credentials including previous academic record (GPA &amp;\u00a0rigor of academic program\/major).\u00a0 However,\u00a0many other factors are critically important, including\u00a0each applicant&#8217;s experience or work history, and\u00a0commitment to\u00a0a career in public health. An applicant\u2019s strength of academic\u00a0preparation, experience or other attributes\u00a0can make for a\u00a0particularly desirable fit\u00a0which may offset other weaknesses in\u00a0an application.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Applying<\/h2>\n<p>First, you should submit the Graduate College Application.\u00a0 This ensures that a file is immediately created and your application material processing is expedited. Simply go directly to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/admissions\/apply\/\">Admissions website<\/a>\u00a0to begin the application process.<\/p>\n<p>Please note the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to first register with a username and password.<\/li>\n<li>The location of enrollment is \u201cHuntington\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The major is \u201cPublic Health\u201d, and the code for the Master of Public Health is \u201cGHA\u00d8\u201d (a zero at the end).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that all materials for your application must be submitted through the Marshall University Graduate Admissions office.\u00a0 We receive only complete applications for review, so please make sure you have submitted all materials.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure you know when all your materials have been received, we will\u00a0email you as soon as we have a complete application file.<\/p>\n<p>Please write or call if we may assist you in the application process!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact: Anthony T.
