Adding an Advisor to a Student Record<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t

  1. Access SGAADVR \u201cMultiple Advisors\u201d by typing the page name in the search bar, or when you are already in the form SGASTDN by going to \u201cRelated\u201d in the upper right and selecting SGAADVR.<\/li>\n
  2. Enter the MU ID of the student and the effective term of the advisor change (20XX01, 20XX02, 20XX03, 20XX04).<\/li>\n
  3. Alt-Pg Down or select GO.<\/li>\n
  4. Enter the MU ID number of the advisor. Alternatively, press the \u201c\u2026\u201d to search for the person, which takes you to SIAIQRY \u201cFaculty Advisor Query.\u201d\n
      \n
    • Alt-Pg Down or press \u201cEnter.\u201d<\/li>\n
    • Enter last name, enter first name; press F8 to execute the query or press \u201cGo.\u201d<\/li>\n
    • Double-click on the desired name, which takes it back to the SGAADVR page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Place a check mark in the \u201cPrimary Indicator\u201d box.<\/li>\n
    • Press F10 to save, or select \u201cSave\u201d in the bottom right.<\/li>\n
    • Click the \u201cX\u201d in the upper left to close the page.<\/li>\n
    • If you accessed SGAADVR from SGASTDN, close the SGASTDN page to go back to the main menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Changing an Advisor<\/h2>\n
        \n
      1. Access SGAADVR \u201cMultiple Advisors\u201d by typing the page name in the search bar, or when you are already in the form SGASTDN by going to \u201cRelated\u201d in the upper right and selecting SGAADVR.<\/li>\n
      2. Enter the MU ID of the student and the effective term of the advisor change (20XX01, 20XX02, 20XX03, 20XX04).<\/li>\n
      3. Alt-Pg Down or select GO.<\/li>\n
      4. A message appears: \u201cFrom term not equal to key block term. Press DUPREC to update.\u201d This is a known error in Banner 9.<\/li>\n
      5. In the upper right of the form, click on the number just above the error message so the message will go away.<\/li>\n
      6. Click on \u201cCopy\u201d which is located in the grey bar just under the \u201cStart Over\u201d button on the upper right. This creates a new record with the desired term.<\/li>\n
      7. To add a row, click on \u201cInsert\u201d which is to the left of \u201cCopy\u201d in the grey bar. Alternatively, you can click on the existing MU ID number and use the down arrow.<\/li>\n
      8. Enter the MU ID number of the advisor. Alternatively, press the \u201c\u2026\u201d to search for the person, which takes you to SIAIQRY \u201cFaculty Advisor Query.\u201d\n
          \n
        1. Alt-Pg Down or press \u201cEnter.\u201d<\/li>\n
        2. Enter last name, enter first name; press F8 to execute the query or press \u201cGo.\u201d<\/li>\n
        3. Double-click on the desired name, which takes it back to the SGAADVR page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        4. Place a check mark in the \u201cPrimary Indicator\u201d box.<\/li>\n
        5. Remove the check mark from the prior advisor\u2019s row.<\/li>\n
        6. Making sure the prior advisor\u2019s row is highlighted, click on \u201cDelete\u201d in the grey bar on the upper right and that row will be deleted. This leaves the new advisor as primary.<\/li>\n
        7. Press F10 to save, or select \u201cSave\u201d in the bottom right.<\/li>\n
        8. Click the \u201cX\u201d in the upper left to close the page.<\/li>\n
        9. If you accessed SGAADVR from SGASTDN, close the SGASTDN page to go back to the main menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Adding an Additional Advisor to a Student Record<\/h2>\n

          Follow the same steps as Changing an Advisor above, with the following difference at step 10: you need to determine who will be the primary advisor for the student. Place a check mark in the \u201cPrimary Indicator\u201d box for the primary advisor only. The other advisors will also be listed in Degree Works and myMU.<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Leave the other advisor(s) listed, making sure the primary advisor has a check mark.<\/li>\n
          2. Press F10 to save, or select \u201cSave\u201d in the bottom right.<\/li>\n
          3. Click the \u201cX\u201d in the upper left to close the page.<\/li>\n
          4. If you accessed SGAADVR from SGASTDN, close the SGASTDN page to go back to the main menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Made an Entry Error?<\/h2>\n

            If you have made an entry error on any of the above Banner pages, do not save your changes. Click on \u201cStart Over\u201d at the top right of your screen. You will receive a warning: \u201cCurriculum Data changes have not been saved.
