When a course does not count toward CPoS, it must be corrected as quickly as possible to prevent delays in aid eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>This page provides step-by-step instructions for advisors and staff to resolve CPoS issues using <strong>Degree Works<\/strong> and <strong>Banner (SFASCRE)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>How the CPoS Review Process Works<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The CPoS process runs automatically each night.<\/li>\n<li>Corrections entered before the nightly run typically update the next day.<\/li>\n<li>Financial Aid eligibility usually updates within 24 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Before the Last Day to Add Classes<\/h3>\n<p>If a course needs to be counted toward CPoS before the last day to add classes, the correction should be made in <strong>Degree Works<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Degree Works Steps<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the student\u2019s record in Degree Works.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the requirement block where the course should apply.<\/li>\n<li>Use <strong>Also Allow<\/strong> or <strong>Apply Here<\/strong> to add the exception.<\/li>\n<li>Save the exception.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If entered before 5:00 p.m. on the last day to add classes, the course will update during the overnight CPoS run.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Counts in Program<\/li>\n<li>Counts for Aid (visible in SFASCRE)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Immediate Processing<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the student record in <strong>SFASCRE<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Evaluate Courses in Program of Study<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>After the Last Day to Add Classes<\/h3>\n<p>Corrections made after the last day to add classes require a manual CPoS run.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Email <a href=\"mailto:RunCPoS@marshall.edu\">RunCPoS@marshall.edu<\/a> to request processing.<\/li>\n<li>Registrar staff will run CPoS manually and notify Financial Aid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Manual Updates in SFASCRE<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the student record in SFASCRE.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the top-most instance of the course not counting.<\/li>\n<li>Set <strong>Count in Program<\/strong> = YES.<\/li>\n<li>Set <strong>Count for Aid<\/strong> = YES.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Preserve Override<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a comment explaining the reason and approving authority.<\/li>\n<li>Save and select <strong>Evaluate Courses in Program of Study<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Students with CPoS questions should be directed to their academic advisor.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A student\u2019s Course Program of Study (CPoS) determines whether enrolled courses apply toward their academic program and qualify for financial aid.
