The incoming freshman\u2019s high school grade point average (GPA)\u00a0and official admission test scores are used to determine merit-based scholarship eligibility at Marshall University. Only official test scores from\u00a0ACT\u00ae or SAT\u00ae\u00a0are used to consider\u00a0incoming freshmen students for merit-based scholarships.\u00a0Marshall University\u00a0takes the highest ACT composite or SAT combined Math and Evidenced Based Reading & Writing\u00a0Score to determine eligibility for\u00a0its scholarship programs. Marshall University also combines the highest sub-scores from different test dates (from the same test) to create a superscore total or composite.\u00a0The superscore total or composite is used when it\u00a0is higher than the ACT composite or SAT combined Math and Evidence Based Reading & Writing Score for eligibility determination of the scholarships listed in the chart above.<\/p>\n

These merit-based scholarships are awarded for four academic years (fall and spring semesters) as long as the student is pursuing his or her first baccalaureate degree and maintains full-time\u00a0enrollment at Marshall University. In addition, the student must\u00a0meet the following renewal criteria:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Successfully complete at least 30 credit hours each academic year<\/li>\n
  • Earn at least a 2.50 GPA at the end of freshman year and a 2.75 GPA by the end of the sophomore and junior years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These non-resident student scholarship awards are tuition waivers for students who are assessed non-resident tuition rates.\u00a0\u00a0Tuition waiver scholarships may only be applied to Marshall University non-resident tuition charges.\u00a0This scholarship program does not apply to students enrolled in a distance education program.\u00a0This waiver does not cover tuition charges from St. Mary\u2019s Center for Education and other third-party agreements with colleges and universities.<\/p>\n

    Incoming Freshmen Honors College Scholarship<\/h4>\n

    In addition to a freshmen merit-based scholarship, students who meet the following criteria and agree to accept admission into the Marshall University Honors College qualify to receive an additional scholarship award.<\/p>\n\n<\/thead>\n\n\n

    Superscore totals are not used to determine eligibility for the Honors College Scholarship.<\/p>\n

    The Honors College Scholarship is awarded for four academic years (fall and spring semesters) as long as the student has not earned his or her first baccalaureate degree,\u00a0remains in the Honors College, and maintains full-time enrollment at Marshall University.\u00a0 Honors College students must also meet the following renewal criteria:<\/p>\n
