Applications for awards are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. Applications must be submitted by the funding application deadline dates listed above.\u202f These applications are carefully reviewed because the State of West Virginia funds the Student Government Association.\u202fStudent Organizations must be <b>registered<\/b><b> on <\/b><b>HerdLink<\/b><b> and have their most recent FEIN and W<\/b><b>&#8211;<\/b><b>9.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No Senate Funding Bill will be debated on if their FEIN and W-9 are not attached to the application process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Completion of the funding application\u202fdoes not guarantee financial support<strong>.<\/strong>\u202fStatements within this application pertaining to the approval process are for reference only. By filing this application, you and your organization release the Student Government Association and Marshall University from any liability, monetary or other, incurred directly or indirectly relating to the project for which funding is requested. All the requirements listed below must be met before application consideration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Limitations of Funding<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Student Government Association can fund organizations for supplies to make food or to purchase food from Sodexo. (Will not fund food for events where alcohol is present.)<\/li>\n<li>Senators that are on the Senate Finance Committee and are involved in a funding request for a student organization must abstain from voting on funding bills related to any organization in which they are an active member.<\/li>\n<li>Organizations must attend both Senate Finance Committee and full Senate meetings where the bill is discussed to receive funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements of Funded Organizations<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organizations seeking Student Government funding must be completely registered and up to date on HerdLink.<\/li>\n<li>Final Funding Report: Funded student organizations must submit a Final Funding Report that details the purchases made with the allocated funds. A Final Funding Report must be completed prior to the organization applying for funding again.<\/li>\n<li>Display of Student Government Association Sponsorship: Each organization funded by the Student Government Association must display the SGA logo or appropriate proof of sponsorship on all marketing materials, t-shirts, or banners.\u202f Proof of the displayed sponsorship will be required in the Final Funding Report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>F<\/b><b>ailure<\/b> <b>to<\/b> <b>m<\/b><b>eet<\/b> <b>t<\/b><b>hese<\/b> <b>r<\/b><b>equirements<\/b> <b>w<\/b><b>ill<\/b> <b>r<\/b><b>esult<\/b> <b>in <\/b><b>f<\/b><b>unding<\/b> <b>s<\/b><b>uspensions<\/b> <b>for<\/b> <b>u<\/b><b>p<\/b> <b>to<\/b> <b>o<\/b><b>ne <\/b><b>f<\/b><b>iscal<\/b> <b>p<\/b><b>eriod as<\/b> <b>v<\/b><b>oted<\/b> <b>u<\/b><b>pon<\/b> <b>b<\/b><b>y<\/b> <b>t<\/b><b>he <\/b><b>s<\/b><b>enate<\/b> <b>of the<\/b> <b>s<\/b><b>tudent<\/b> <b>g<\/b><b>overnment <\/b><b>a<\/b><b>ssociation<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Application Supplements Necessary to Receive Funding<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IRS Tax Letter (uploaded to HerdLink)<\/li>\n<li>W-9 Form (uploaded to HerdLink)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your organization does not have a FEIN, it can be found at the IRS website or by calling the specialty tax number,\u202f<b>1\u2010800\u2010829\u20104933.<\/b> An organization\u2019s W-9 form must be filled out correctly to receive funding. This includes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Accurate name of organization on W-9 Form (matching the name on the letter your organization received from the IRS.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Appropriate box checked for\u202ffederal tax\u202fclassification (check the \u201cother\u201d box and type \u201cNon-Profit Student Organization\u201d into the box)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Correct Fein<\/li>\n<li>Signature in ink \u2013 <b>do not copy.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>An itemized budget must be uploaded with all funding applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>For Organizations Requesting Funds for Travel<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide proof of valid driver\u2019s license for all people who may be driving to, from or during the event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Any questions or concerns regarding funding may be addressed by the\u202f<\/b> <a href=\"mailto:taylor920@marshall.edu\">President Pro-Tempore<\/a><b> or <\/b><a href=\"mailto:waller45@marshall.edu\">Senate Treasurer<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Funding Terms and Conditions Chair: Connor Waller Co-Chair: Brea Belville Deadline for funding application submission (2023-2024 year): Fall 2023: November 10, 2023(or while funding lasts) Student organizations may obtain funding once a semester, with a limit of $750.00 per fiscal year.
