The Senior Capstone course is three credits.\u00a0 Students must develop proposals appropriate to that commitment.\u00a0 While varying with the individual student and their project, students should expect to spend approximately 100 hours on this project.<\/p>\n<p>Assignments will be submitted via Blackboard in the <strong>Theatre Capstone BFA organization.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Proposal &#8211; 10%<\/h2>\n<p>Student should identify a mentor for the project and two additional faculty members to serve on their Capstone jury. The two performance faculty will chair or serve on juries for all performance students. Student will select at least one additional faculty member for a minimum of three total jury members including the Chair. Additional instructors may serve but are not required. The mentor will serve as the student\u2019s Capstone Jury Chair and Teacher of Record. The project mentor may not be the student\u2019s academic advisor. Note that no part-time instructor may serve as a Capstone Jury Chair. If a part-time instructor is selected as a project mentor, the student\u2019s academic advisor will serve as the Jury Chair and Teacher of Record. Student will submit a Proposal Form to their Project Mentor \/ Teacher of Record. On the form, students will indicate which additional jury members they have invited and confirmed to serve. Proposal forms are available online in \u201cStudent Resources.\u201d Proposals must be submitted and approved prior to the first rehearsal.<\/p>\n<h2>Journal &#8211; 10%<\/h2>\n<p>Students will keep a detailed journal of their evolving process for a minimum 5 weeks of said production.\u00a0 These entries will be worth 20 points per week.<\/p>\n<h2>Weekly Documentation \/ Research &#8211; 30%<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>BB submission \u2018Week 1\u2019\u00a0: <strong>Due 7 weeks prior to first dress.\u00a0 <\/strong>Timetable and dramatic structure analysis: 50 points<\/li>\n<li>BB submission \u2018Week 2\u2019\u00a0: <strong>Due 6 weeks prior to first dress<\/strong>.\u00a0 Studied Reading of the Script\u00a0; Analysis of each character in the play.\u00a0 What the character and other characters say about him or her, given circumstances, etc\u2026approved topic proposal : 50 points<\/li>\n<li>BB submission \u2018Week 3\u2019\u00a0: <strong>Due 5 weeks prior to first dress.\u00a0 <\/strong>Research\u00a0; Acting style, background of play, etc: 50 points<\/li>\n<li>BB submission \u2018Week 4\u2019\u00a0: <strong>Due week 4 of rehearsal.\u00a0 <\/strong>Blocking\u00a0; Upload a scanned copy of script with attached blocking: 50 points<\/li>\n<li>BB submission \u2018Week 5\u2019\u00a0: <strong>Due 2 weeks prior to first dress. <\/strong>Scoring of the role\u00a0; provide score with given circumstances, Super objective, objectives, obstacles, actions affective memory, etc\u2026\u00a0: 100 points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Public Presentation &#8211; 30%<\/h2>\n<p>Public Presentation\/Performance of the work.<\/p>\n<h2>Self Assessment &#8211; 5%<\/h2>\n<p>Student will complete a\u00a0 written self-assessment in which he\/she will reflect on the efficacy of their work and discuss strengths and weaknesses with regard to skills, professional practices and collaboration with peer artists.<\/p>\n<h2>Jury Defense &#8211; 15%<\/h2>\n<p>Students will complete an oral self-assessment \/ Q&amp;A with selected jury members in which he\/she will reflect on the efficacy of their work and discuss strengths and weaknesses with regard to skills, professional practices and collaboration with peer artists.<\/p>\n<h2>Grading<\/h2>\n<p>A student must earn a C or better in order to pass the course and graduate with a BFA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advisor Jack Cirillo colclough@marshall.edu PAC Room 219A 696-2511 Course Description The Capstone project serves to demonstrate the student\u2019s proficiency in the major field of study.\u00a0 It is the culmination of coursework in the student\u2019s area of concentration (Performance).
