Costume designer Annie O. Cleveland will give a public lecture at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre on Marshall University\u2019s Huntington campus.<\/p>\n
The lecture is the latest event in the Joan C. Edwards Distinguished Professors in the Arts fall 2015 program, presented by the university\u2019s College of Arts and Media.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
The presentation, titled \u201cGlamour and Gore: A Fulbright Scholar Teaches in Taiwan,\u201d is free and open to the public. A question-and-answer session with Cleveland will follow.<\/p>\n
Cleveland was a tenured associate professor and the resident costume designer for the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Colorado State University for 17 years before relocating to the Los Angeles area, where she has taught and designed productions at California State University Northridge.<\/p>\n
In 2009, Cleveland received a Fulbright grant to teach computer-aided costume design at National Taiwan University. She also has conducted digital design workshops across the United States and presented her work in Curitiba, Brazil; Seoul, South Korea; and Pilanesberg, South Africa. Edwards Distinguished Professors in the Arts Endowment to enable the then-College of Fine Arts to bring to the university preeminent arts educators, in an effort to enhance learning opportunities for students, staff, faculty and the community.<\/p>\n
