We are here to help.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>If You Are in Immediate Danger<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Call <strong>911<\/strong> or the <strong>Marshall University Police Department (MUPD)<\/strong> at <strong>304\u2011696\u20114357 (HELP)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>From any campus phone, dial <strong>6\u20114357<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Use one of the 30+ <strong>emergency\/service help phones<\/strong> on the Huntington campus for 24\/7 direct connection to MUPD dispatch.<\/li>\n<li>For 24\/7 crisis support, contact the <strong>National Sexual Assault Hotline<\/strong> at <strong>800\u2011656\u20114673<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Online Reporting<\/h3>\n<p>The Title IX Office has an <strong>online\u2011only reporting system<\/strong>. This is consistent with national Title IX requirements that institutions respond promptly once an appropriate employee or the Title IX Coordinator has <strong>actual knowledge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Call MUPD<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>304\u2011696\u20114357 (HELP)<\/li>\n<li>911 in emergencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Pursuing Accountability<\/h3>\n<p>You may pursue accountability through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The University<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Law enforcement<\/strong>, or<\/li>\n<li><strong>Both<\/strong>, depending on your preference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the Respondent is not affiliated with Marshall, disciplinary options may be limited, but the University will still provide <strong>supportive measures<\/strong>, which the 2020 Title IX regulations require schools to offer <strong>regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Medical Attention<\/h3>\n<p>Hospitals must report sexual offenses to law enforcement under state law, but <strong>you are not required to press charges<\/strong> at that time. You may choose to report later. Hospitals will <strong>not notify the University<\/strong> unless you request it.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>What Happens After You Report<\/h3>\n<p>Once the Title IX Office receives a report:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Prompt Review:<\/strong> The report is reviewed promptly to determine immediate safety or support needs. This is required under 34 C.F.R. \u00a7106.44(a).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supportive Measures Offered:<\/strong> You will be offered supportive measures, including academic adjustments, counseling, and housing changes, <strong>with or without filing a formal complaint<\/strong>, as required by Title IX.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rights and Options Explained:<\/strong> You will receive information about the formal grievance process, informal resolution (when appropriate), and other reporting options.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Confidentiality<\/h3>\n<p>Your privacy matters.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Confidential Resources:<\/strong> Counselors, health providers, and other designated confidential professionals will not share your information without your consent, unless legally required.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Responsible Employees:<\/strong> Faculty and staff (except confidential employees) must report information to the Title IX Office, consistent with federal guidance that all relevant reports constitute \u201cactual knowledge\u201d requiring institutional response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Supportive Measures<\/h3>\n<p>You may access supportive measures <strong>regardless of whether you choose to file a formal complaint<\/strong>, per Title IX requirements. These measures may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic accommodations<\/li>\n<li>Counseling services<\/li>\n<li>Housing or work adjustments<\/li>\n<li>No\u2011contact orders<\/li>\n<li>Safety planning and referrals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Frequently Asked Questions<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Can I report even if I\u2019m not sure it qualifies as Title IX?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes. The Title IX Office will help you understand your options.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Can I withdraw my report later?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes.
