{"id":16,"date":"2010-01-06T14:48:31","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T14:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/trio\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2014-11-05T17:47:37","modified_gmt":"2014-11-05T17:47:37","slug":"news","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/trio\/talent-search\/hats-program\/news\/","title":{"rendered":"News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Heart of Appalachia Talent Search (HATS) Program<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Heart of Appalachia Talent Search Program would like to serve as an example to our students regarding the importance of community service.\u00a0 With this concept in mind, we will be collecting items from November 3rd through December 5thth for the Veteran\u2019s Home located in Barboursville, WV.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" >In an effort to encourage student participation, we are hosting a contest for our service schools.\u00a0 The HATS students who collect the most items for their school will win a pizza party.<\/p>\n<p>We will be having a Christmas Party on Saturday, December 13thth from 1:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m. at the Marshall University Campus Christian Center where we will assemble individual care packages for our veterans.\u00a0 We have activities planned for students and will also provide some delicious holiday appetizers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"\"><b>Community Service Project Competition\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul><!-- [if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Students in the HATS Program at Hannan High School, Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School and Wahama High School will compete against each other.<\/li>\n<li>Students in the HATS Program at Spring Valley High School, Tolsia High School and Wayne High School will compete against each other.<\/li>\n<li>Students in the HATS Program at Buffalo Middle School, Ceredo Kenova Middle School, Crum Middle School, Fort Gay Middle School, Vinson Middle School and Wayne Middle School will compete against each other.<a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a><\/li>\n<li>To encourage participation in the Veterans Service Project, students in the HATS program who collect the most items within their county for their school, will be the recipients of a special event during the school day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<ul><!-- [if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- [if gte mso 10]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p style=\"\"><b>Donation Items<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you donate an item that is in a multiple pack such as socks or cotton swabs, they will be counted as one item.\u00a0 For instance, you couldn\u2019t turn in a pack of 500 cotton swabs and expect them to be counted as 500 items.<\/li>\n<li>Donations must be new and still in the package<\/li>\n<li>Donations must be full size.
