{"id":85,"date":"2011-04-07T13:19:57","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T13:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/uc\/?page_id=85"},"modified":"2023-08-29T06:44:02","modified_gmt":"2023-08-29T10:44:02","slug":"student-expectations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/uc\/tutoring-services\/student-expectations\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Expectations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"w-full xl:container mx-auto px-6\">\n<h6>When you participate in a tutoring session, there are a few things expected from you as a student in order to get the most out of your tutoring session(s):<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Attempt to solve the problem(s) yourself first.<\/li>\n<li>Before you come to a tutoring session, read your assignment.\u00a0 This will help you and the tutor focus on the aspects of the assignment that are giving you difficulty.<\/li>\n<li>Be as specific as possible about the area(s) you don\u2019t understand and\/or the problem(s) you are having.<\/li>\n<li>Be patient.\u00a0 Tutors are available to help you, but they may not always have all the answers.\u00a0 It could take time to give you an answer to your problem (depending on the complexity of the problem).<\/li>\n<li>Let a staff person know if a particular tutor &#8220;match&#8221; is not working out; different students have different learning styles and each tutor &#8220;instructs&#8221; differently.\u00a0 We will be happy to pair you with another tutor if one is available.<\/li>\n<li>Do not wait until the last minute to request help in your subject.<\/li>\n<li>Be courteous to your tutor and to the other students who might be working in the tutoring area.\u00a0 Unruly conduct will not be tolerated.<span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><em>We hope you have a successful tutoring session!
